How to Write a book ?
To make it appear more complete, various free digital applications auto-correct your grammar, such as Grammarly and online paraphraser.
I have written 2 books, 1 is exclusively featured on Wattpad called the 'ghost orchid'.
steps for writing a book:-
STEP 1:-
Know your genre first.
1. action and adventure
2. thriller
3. general fiction
4. speculative fiction
5. literary fiction
6. fantasy
7. speculative mystery
8. history classics
there are more than these, but you must only write your book in what interesst's you and in which one to two genres you have expertise on and you must read at least 3 books of prior to writing any.
STEP 2:-
SETTING THE TITLE
title is set on the second step because it will fix a nail to the flow of your story, and all you give you one specific area to work on and all you need is to bend your story and keep revolving it around your title to make it more intriguing, mysterious and metaphorical.
the title you choose can be the name of the main character, like for ex - 'the seven husbands of hugo evelyn, or a name of the object which the story focuses on for ex ' the red cassette'
or it can be bunch of words which describe why the story took place in the first place like "it ends with us".
or you can give the title a metaphorical reference matching the mentality of the main character like my book, " the ghost orchid" the flower stands for adaptability which makes him survive in the most hostile environments and this ability of the ghost orchid flower matches with characteristics of my main charecter in the story.
for a additional fact my book came 2 months before netflix's 'Wednesday' came, for those who didn't watched the series it contained the mention of the flower "ghost orchid" in epsidoe 2 and therefore mentions the same characteristics which I wanted to link metaphorically.
STEP 3:-
START WITHOUT GIVING HINTS.
never mention any points which directly and easily suggests whats the story about or else it will become cliche, to avoid it start in the middle of event. like for example character 1 said this and character 2 suddenly started arguing and character 3 pulled out a gun.
here I haven't given any hints whats the plot is about, what had happened, what is happening or what will happen. scenes like this in the start of a book engages the audience and creates a hook.
STEP 4:-
CREATE THE ROLLER COASTER RIDE.
we know how roller coaster makes us feel, you have to do the same with your book. if your storyline form the start to the end is a straight line, it makes it blant. it will be tasteless, without any ups and downs, without twists, without amusement. the more curves you have in your story the more engaging and intriguing it becomes.
this graphical curves represents your whole story, now the markings a,b,c etc represents the events which will be occurring to run your book.
all you need is make a curve like this it can be of any shape you like but it must contain long ups of dips which will psychologically play with the emotions of the reader.
1) points located at the lower positions like = (a, e, h) which tells the main character is on his lowest points of life more the position of that event is low in the curve more will the main character suffers, agony grasps him and depression devours his soul.
such extreme low events are for emotionally traumatizing the reader.
2) points on the uphill like = (b, f) shows that the character is grinding and giving his all better to make the situation stable and under control and everything seems to work out slowly.
3) points on the top = (c,g,i) represents that the main character achieved what he wanted and on what he was trying to risk everything and finally got it. the sense of victory lies in the air.
this is mainly seen in the climax but make sure you use it at least 3 to 4 times to make the readers burst the tears of happiness.
4) points on the downhill like = (d) tells us that everything the character has accomplished in the high points starts to fade away and all seems to get out of control.
STEP 5:-
CREATE THE EVENTS
yes, we are talking about the same events that are going to take place on those points marked on your roller coaster curve. what exactly you want the character to achieve, to lose, to train for, to understand, to explore, to feel write all those things out and categorise them in those events.
for example: i want to star a book with a trauma, then then on point (a) which will be on the bottommost part as i mentioned in figure
point event
1) A "on a rainy day, the main character gets a call saying 'his/her family had been hit a landslide while driving and casualties had been confirmed"
that's a traumatizing even and the main character deals with a great soul-destructing trauma. that's where the reader's will be immersed in the story and get themselves psychologically involved.
conclusion :
it is not mandatory to use this kind of technique to write a book, you can write on your own and make a great book even better than mine. always make sure that audience are intrigued in the start itself that's very crucial step which you have to nail in order to make your book ranked amongst the top.
